Additional Z Air Brake Endorsement Course Information
Do I need the Class Z Air Brake Endorsement License to drive a commercial truck in Ontario?
Anyone who drives a truck with an air brake system or an air-over-hydraulic brake system will be required to complete their Z endorsement course. You will also need to pass the MTO approve Air Brake Test Ontario. Once this is complete, you will be required to complete your Class A or Class D license depending on your vehicles specifications.
What does the MTO Air Brake Course entail?
To secure your Z Endorsement license, you will be required to complete the MTO approved written knowledge test and the MTO approved practical test. Access Truck Training helps you prepare for these courses with practical training in a commercial truck. You will also be given a copy of the Practical Airbrakes Driver Handbook & Study Guide to help you prepare for the written knowledge test. You can also download the Official MTO Air Brake Handbook from the resources section of our website.
Where is your truck training facility located?
Our driving center is located at 1748 Bath Road, Kingston, Ontario. Although located in Kingston, we help drivers from all across Eastern Ontario secure their Class Z Endorsement License.
Will I be required to drive a truck during the Z Endorsement Test?
No, during your Z Endorsement test you will not be driving. The truck will be stationary, and you will be performing a 6-point brake check.
How often do I need to renew my Z Endorsement License and what do I need to do?
Renewing your Air Brake License will align with the renewal of your Class A or Class D license. This renewal period is every 5 years until you are over the age of 80. The test is strictly a MTO approved written knowledge test. When you turn 80, you will need to pass a practical test as well that will require driving.
Why should I choose Access Truck Training?
Access Truck Training is a Canadian driving school that is owned and operated by a former MTO drive test examiner. We take the time during each of our training sessions to set a solid foundation for your commercial driving skills. Your practical training will be done in a step-by-step process to ensure you remember key info and pass your tests. You will get all the knowledge you need to excel in your career after you work with Access Truck Training.
